I have been working in the tech industry for some time now as a system administrator/user support/jack of all trades guy. Even though the job still appeals to me I wanted to get more into programming. I have been doing some programming in the past but never really continued. During the programming experiences I have worked with Delphi, Java, PHP and some Python.
I really like the Python language and even though RoR seems to be the programming flavour of this time I will most likely focus on Python and the Django framework.
One thing that currently bugs me the most is the lack of complete information for setting up development machines. There are bits here and there but most "guides" expect that some components are installed, that you know how to install (and configure) them into the existing codebase, are familiar with using the Terminal or are outdated. I guess that when something bugs you you have to fix it so I am currently working on a tutorial for setting up a complete "production" environment on a mac computer. If someone wants to participate or write up a tutorial for let's say, a RoR environment, please contact me. Either here or on Twitter.
Perhaps we can, if the documents are of good enough quality, arrange something with CodeNewbie to host them in some kind of document/guides section of the website.
Thanks for reading so far and I hope to be a regular on these forums. Take care!
