Hi, I'm Julian Riches. I was in Ottawa studying Philosophy and English, but while I loved my studies I found that I was feeling pretty isolated and lonely, and so after a year I left the program. I moved to Orillia and got my Developmental Service Worker diploma, which is a fancy way of saying I work with people with disabilities. I now live in Waterloo Ontario. And it's here where my friends introduced me to programming.
I love computer hardware (AMD, All the way, and waiting very impatiently for Vega), and am getting a new Ryzen processor at the end of the month. But what I really love is code! But I'm having a really hard time getting myself into it, partly because I work a lot, but it's mostly a motivation issue. Even if I could spend an hour or two on code a day, that would be great.
I know that the best way to do it is to just do it. I know that that's especially true for me. So I'm coming here for support to get me going. I have a few friends who do programming, but I don't see them enough. They also largely work within the Arch-Linux operating system, which is fantastic but unfortunately a little too steep of a hill for me to climb at the moment. So I'm starting with Python, and I'm at the very basics.
Mostly, I'm floundering, and I'm looking for help! I want to make things that help people, and I want to make stories through games!
